Rachel Maddow criticized news organizations for carrying former President Trump’s remarks knowing he would likely make false statements. 

She argued that it’s irresponsible to allow someone to knowingly lie on air, even if they are a prominent figure. Maddow highlighted the dilemma between providing live coverage and fact-checking after the fact.

MSNBC has cut away from Trump’s speeches, while other networks vary in their approaches, some opting for full coverage and others for fact-checking interruptions. 

President Biden’s campaign has urged media to highlight Trump’s falsehoods more prominently.
